What is the Game Design Summit?

This is the first annual Southwest Regional Game Design competition, hosted by techJOYnT Education Foundation.

Who is eligible to participate?

The Game Design Summit is open only to individuals who:

(a) are legal residents of Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, or Arizona;

(b) are enrolled in Elementary, Middle, High school, or college in a school located in the United States, or, if home-schooled, are of the equivalent age (i.e., Elementary 6-10, Middle 11-14, High school 14-18, collegiate 18-27); and (c) have their parents’/legal guardians’ permission to participate in the Challenge.

When can the students start making their games?

On February 1st, 2014 at 10:00am CST we will be posting the official sub themes for each category. At that time, each individual (or team) is free to start creating their game.

When is the deadline to submit their game?

The deadline to submit is July 18th, 2014 at 11:59pm CST.

When is the awards ceremony?

The awards ceremony will be on July 25th, 2014

What are the prizes?

The prizes are will be determined in the following months. Please visit gamedesign.techjoynt.com for updates on prizes and other information.

How do we sign up?

Please visit gamedesign.techjoynt.com and complete the registration form. The registration form can be found on the right-hand side of the screen, as a picture that says, “Register for the 2014 Game Design Summit!”

Can we pre register?

Yes, pre registration begins on January 1st, 2014

When is the deadline to register by?

The deadline for registration is on May 1st.

How much does it cost to register?

Individuals – $195

Teams – $375

Can my team enter multiple games?

No, there can only be one submission per team. Students in a team may not submit a game as an individual.
